Membership

Open Studio Memberships are now available in the Clay Studio! Please fill out the form below with your preferences and experience, and we’ll reach out with more information.

Scheduling Open Studio time is flexible and variable. Pottery wheels are available for use by members unless a private event or pottery wheel class is going on. Sundays tend to be open, as well as Friday and Saturday evenings (unless a date night is booked). Check the scheduler linked below, stop by the studio, or reach out to confirm what times are available during the week.

Becoming a Member…

Memberships are available for anyone looking to work independently on their creative projects in a welcoming community environment. Due to the independent nature of the Membership model, Members must have experience in their chosen medium, whether by taking classes at Cardinal Creative Space or elsewhere. If you are currently taking classes with us, adding a Membership will give you access to practice your craft outside of class time.

  • If you are new to the studio, submit a few images of your work to be considered for Membership. This is not a juried process- we are not looking for “professional” quality, just a demonstration of your experience in your chosen medium, whether you are a beginner or highly skilled.

    • Please send 3-5 images to info@cardinalcreativespace.com with the subject line: Studio Membership.

    • Once approved, you will be able to shop the Member Shop and Book Open Studio Time.

  • Open Studio time will be available by the hour, or you may purchase a Membership Card to prepay for multiple hours at a discounted rate, held on a convenient punch card at the front desk.

  • Walk-ins will be welcome during specified hours, but scheduling ahead will assure that we have enough space for you, and that your preferred tools and equipment are available for use when you arrive.

    • Preference will be given to those who book ahead.

  • New Members will be given an orientation to their specified studio area and will be expected to follow procedures outlined in their orientation.

    • Please let staff know if you have any questions or need a refresher on any studio procedures.

  • Membership includes the hourly space rental, tools, and equipment only.

Additional fees…

  • Consumable materials to complete your project(s) may be available at additional cost, or you may bring your own approved materials to work in the studio.

  • Firing fees for pottery and glass will apply.

    • Members must know what type of clay, glazes, or glass they are using and label pieces properly. If you are unsure, please let staff know and we can work together to find the answer.

    • Damage to kilns due to mislabeled materials will result in a $50 kiln maintenance fee per incident.

    • Unknown materials will not be fired.

  • Members are expected to help keep the studio neat and orderly. Members who leave a mess will be charged a $20 cleaning fee per visit.

  • Storage space at the studio is limited, so Members may be required to take projects home between sessions- shelf space may be available for a monthly fee.
